Community Strike Readiness is a 90-minute workshop offering practical training for community members who want to be ready when collective action escalates. Offered by Grassroots Democracy, the workshop will cover what it means to be part of the Strike Ready Corps, basics of building strike readiness, and how to build sustained, strategic action over time.
Participants will learn from historical examples of strikes confronting authoritarian regimes, recent collective action in the US, and have opportunities to apply earnings to their local organizing context as we approach the upcoming midterm elections.
Join us for a 2 hour virtual training on civil resistance and noncooperation. We will cover the authoritarian threat and how to defeat it. We will especially focus on countering the all-out assault on our elections and freedom to vote at a scale that matches the severity of the threat. Participants will leave with concrete steps for taking action.
Nonviolent Direct Action
In moments when institutions feel unresponsive or power is being misused, people often turn to nonviolent direct action as a way to step into their own agency and act together for change. It’s a way of saying, “we don’t have to wait”—we can creatively and collectively push for the world we want to see.
